The WCCC Production Systems Status Board is written entirely in PHP/HTML. The design, gradients, rounded corners, etc are all CSS3 driven and is displayed using the Plainview full screen browser on a Mac Mini. jQuery AJAX calls are utilized for the updating.
The board primarily displays real-time data from a helpdesk system accessed via MySQL - current dept. ticket count, current ticket status totals (open, on hold, closed, etc.), last 5 created tickets, top 5 overdue tickets, 24h trend of open vs. closed tickets, etc. When a new ticket hits the system, a sound effect is played, and the full new ticket information is displayed full screen to be read, then fades away after 15 sec back to the normal status board layout. Data is also pulled from other sources for additional widgets: Google Calendar, Twitter, Yahoo Weather, an Axis Webcam, countdown timer, and several rotating RSS feeds on a ticker along the bottom of the screen. The board also is controlling IP devices to turn on/off alert lights in the room depending on new ticket status.
